She began piano studies at age 6 under Virginia Whitehead, a multi award-winning teacher and alumna of the Julliard School of Music. Over 12 years of intensive study in sight-reading, music theory, performance and dynamic expression, Rising developed a sensitive artistic touch that won her numerous first-place awards at competitions throughout California. As a professional pianist, Rising's sound is smooth and velvety, and she plays to transport listeners to another world—one where the everyday stresses of life are washed away.
