About Allyson Clare is a New York City based Composer, Musician, and Teacher. She has performed and toured with many notable musicians, among whom are Josh Groban, and Mario Castro . While primarily focusing on classical performance practice, she is well versed in Popular music, as well as Jazz. Clare has taught at many private music conservatories around the United States, and most recently at public middle schools around New York City, and Jersey City. She maintains a private teaching studio in North Bergen, NJ. Here she imparts many musical and compositional skills to her students, with a particular focus on string instrument training. Allyson is also a composer and arranger of music for all instrument groups, and performs regularly with her string quartet: The Solar Quartet. Weddings and Ceremonies Allyson will personally commemorate your special day with a performance suited to the occasion. She can offer solo performances, solo with backing track, and string ensembles of various sizes (duo, trio, quartet, etc.). She can provide music for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, wedding reception, private event, or corporate party. All musicians are professional, punctual and reliable. We perform traditional classical music as well as pop and jazz selections, and will be happy to play any special musical requests you may have. Teaching Allyson draws on the knowledge of her two music degrees (from San Francisco and New England conservatories respectively), combine with vast performance expertise when teaching violin, viola, music reading, solfege, music theory, and composition. She has extensive experience teaching children, and young adults aging from ages 7-18. She also has taken on numerous adult students at various stages of tutelage-- from beginner, to professional. Allyson takes pride in her personal approach to teaching, which is self-described as being “hands-on, individualized, and efficient”. Composing and Arranging Clare is a prolific composer who has composed for professional soloists, such as acclaimed cellist Emil Milland, string quartets including the Eidolon Quartet, and orchestral groups including collective SFCCO. Proficient in multiple styles, she is able to arrange, transcribe, and compose for the ensemble of your choosing.
