Patsy and the Country Classics Country Band from Ruther Glen, VA

Patsy Hockaday started Patsy & the Country Classics Band in February of 2012. Made up of seasoned musicians, who love playing country music, Patsy & the Country Classics has filled a niche in the traditional country music genre. The band consists of Patsy Hockaday (vocals), Jon Voth (steel guitar, harmonica and vocals), Don Whitlock (bass), Michael Hockaday (drums and vocals), Harry Roberson (keyboard and vocals), and Randy Litton (lead guitar and vocals). After being together for only two months, they were given the honor of playing a Memorial Benefit concert for a local beloved DJ from Fredericksburg’s own WFLS radio, Brian Strobel. The response to the band’s debut performance was overwhelming, not only from the community, but from the other musicians that were there as well. A few months later, Patsy wrote a script of Patsy Cline’s life, and interwove within the show other female country artists that were influenced by Patsy Cline. They played the first show to a full house and received a standing ovation. They have since performed the show to sold out crowds. She and her husband, Michael, have also written an additional script that features a historical perspective on the evolution of country music featuring both male and female artists. Not only has music been an important part of each band member’s life, it is a passion, and that is evident when Patsy & the Country Classics perform. Patsy & Michael are also cast members of the Old Dominion Barn Dance. To promote the band even further, Patsy entered the Ms. Sr. Virginia Pageant and won, and then went on to win the 2014 Ms. Sr. America title. For the talent competition she sang “Leavin’ On Your Mind” by Patsy Cline, with the track performed by her own band, the Country Classics. Their first CD, “Now Appearing, Patsy & the Country Classics” came out to rave reviews and they were awarded the 2014 Traditional Country Music CD of the year by the National Traditional Country Music Association/Rural Roots Commission. The NTCMA also awarded the 2018 Classic Country Classic CD of the year for their third CD, “The Promise.” Although their emphasis is traditional country music, Patsy & the Country Classics is a versatile band that also plays rock and roll and blues, as well as other genres of music. So whether it is a Patsy Cline or A Historical Perspective on Country Music Show, or a good night of dancing, the band is enjoying a wonderful ride, and they are taking anyone who appreciates their music with them, and could not be more grateful for the opportunity!
