Who Are We. TheDecadesBand with Austin's own Diane Tropea on lead vocals and Don Hubbard on lead & rhythm guitar, and guitar synth, and other Trio and Quartet performers as needed. We provide lively multi decade multi genre cover songs from the 1940's through current. Because we're multi decade and genre we can adapt our music genre and decade to align with your events theme. And though we often perform as a duo with a larger band sound to keep your costs low, we also have a Trio and Quartet configuration when a larger band presence is requested. Primary Band Members Diane Tropea & Don Hubbard have been performing all around the Austin area as TheDecadesBand since 2016. Diane Tropea has been singing since early childhood, did some LA touring in her college years, and now lives and works in the Hill Country north of Austin. Her vocals are superb and one of those must hear to believe voices. Diane also performs regularly with the 18-piece Big Brass Band (Not Past 11) out of Georgetown Texas. Don Hubbard plays lead and rhythm guitar and provides backup vocals for The Decades Band. He is retired Navy and has worked for the past 15 years for the State of Texas. In addition to playing regular electric guitar he plays multiple guitar-synth lead instruments to add variety to the music when performing as with the duo band. Using synth instruments allows adding additional instruments without requiring more band members, which in turn keeps our prices low. During any given song, besides regular guitar, you may also hear lead instruments like Sax, Trombone, Piano, Organ, Trumpet, Vibes, Clarinet, Flute, Harmonica, or Accordion. This achieves our goal of providing a big band sound at a smaller band cost. Paul Klemperer on Sax and backup vocals is one of our favorite sit in musicians. He is an accomplished Sax and Clarinet musician and has performed all over the US. Paul also teaches music in Austin and is deeply involved in creative music projects and collaborative efforts. We also perform with Sax player Frank DeMar who also performs with the Georgetown big band Not Past 11. Experience Though we're new to 'TheBash', we have recently completed our 500th performance providing our unique mix of music genres and decades for corporate events, weddings, anniversaries, festivals, benefits, and dance parties. Our music might be cocktail hour background music one minute and quickly change to lively raise-the-roof dance music the next. We are among the most flexible bands when it comes to adapting our music to your event and music needs. If you walked into a venue where we are performing as a duo band, you would likely think we are a larger 4-5 piece band. We have carefully created a sound that is much richer and larger than a typical duo band. Performing as a duo keeps your band costs down. However, we also have a Trio and Quartet configuration if your event requires that. Our quotes will generally state (2) performers but we are always happy to update our quote for a Trio or Quartet option.
