Step into the world of Native American Dance with Miss Chief Rocka as she performs traditional & story telling dances steeped in cultural richness and rhythmic exploration. Hailing proudly from the Treaty 6 Territory of amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta) and a member of Frog Lake First Nation, her journey into Powwow Dancing began in 1996 at awâsis-waciston elementary school and continued as a teen through the White Buffalo Society’s powwow dance program. She brings a unique blend of tradition and contemporary flair to her performances, showcasing the vibrant styles of The Jingle Dress Dance, The Fancy Shawl Dance and Traditional Hoop Dance. As an internationally recognized artist, she has represented her culture on major stages throughout the world and has been invited to perform through out the DMV with notable mentions such as The Kennedy Center, The Strathmore Music Center, The National Mall, The Smithsonian, The US Mint Headquarters and is a S&R Evermay 2024 Washington Award Recipient. Through her artistry and community leadership, Angela continues to uplift Indigenous voices across the country, inspiring a new generation of dancers to embrace the beat and express themselves authentically. She currently is a resident dance educator for Connected North, sharing cultural dance to remote Indigenous communities across Canada and is a dance educator for the Washington Ballet & Elements Urban Arts Collective in Washington, DC. Join her for an empowering journey into the heart of Powwow Dancing where every step is a celebration of resilience, rich history & culture.
