It was a very sincere pleasure working with Frank Batchelor and the Riverboat Stompers. They played for my farther's memorial service at The Country Club in Chestnut Hill and they were a wonderful addition to the whole event. Frank called beforehand to make sure he understood what type of mood we wanted, where the band would be located, and other details which made us all feel confident everything would go well. I really cannot recommend this band highly enough. Their music is fantastic and they are very reasonably priced. A very sincere pleasure to work with and I'd choose them again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much Frank and Riverboat Stompers!
The instrumentation usually includes trumpet, trombone, clarinet, piano, drums, tuba, banjo, and sometimes fire siren, Klaxon horn, kazoos, etc. Vocals are frequent and usually done with great humor (or irony). If the setting is appropriate, the band offers up commentary and historical tidbits on the tunes - with a large dose of fun added.
For stage concerts and outdoor events, the full ensemble is recommended as this best reflects the origins of the music, recreating how it was played in the 1920's. The band can also be scaled down in number to accommodate your budget or space limits at your venue. Need a trio? We'll do that! Instrumentation can be modified should your party or dance wish to focus on swing rather than traditional jazz. We will determine with you the instrumental combination and band size that best satisfies your circumstances.
