RawBeeT’s is Robby T (Robb Torgler)….a Modern-Hybrid banjoist who brings many styles of music together in a unique format of banjo and foot drums…..often accompanied by bass and fiddle or dobro. His style is a combination of Americana, Folk and Bluegrass. Modern, because although he studies the Traditions of Bluegrass and Old-Time banjo and uses them as influences, his M.O. is to move the banjo forward into popular music and break the stereotype that banjos are only for Bluegrass music. Hybrid, because Robb has embraced both the 3-finger (up-picking) style used in Bluegrass as well as the Clawhammer (down-stroking) style used for Old-Time music simultaneously….which led to him developing a unique style of playing utilizing hand-made finger picks he designed, which he markets under the name “ClawJam”. This invention has led to numerous articles in publications on the ingenuity of the picks and their functionality, as well as several celebrity clients, including Steve Martin and Clifton Hicks. Robb has won numerous songwriting awards and been featured in international publications such as Americana Rhythm Magazine and the UK’s Artistic Echoes.
