Why would five of this areas most experienced musicians get together and form a funk band? Because it is a funkin blast! Having performed in nearly every venue and genre in the Shreveport music scene they decided that it was time to actually get back to the reason they all started playing music in the first place, the sheer enjoyment of seeing people raise their hands and shake their butts.If you like to dance Soul Circus is the answer and then some. So leave the ordinary behind and enjoy a trip back to when gas was cheap, life was easy, and the freak flags were flying. There aint no party like a Soul Circus party. It was Rohn's vision which sparked the idea to use his musical talent to involve people in the band concept in a new and interesting way. Rather than the usual come watch us perform idea he opted instead to ask the audience to come and party with us. At this point he had become so exhausted with the same ol' routine that he had nearly quit the business altogether. But it was this "rock bottom moment," so to speak, that gave rise to the "light bulb moment": his decision to stop working so hard at convincing people of his own talent and to show them instead how much fun they could have listening to live music coming from a group interested in creating a PARTY. He decided that it was no longer rewarding to stand center stage and ask people to watch him sing. It was infinitely more satisfying to see them dancing while he sang, and, in most cases, while they sang along with him at the top of their lungs, sometimes sharing the mic! The foundation of every successful Circus is the tone set by its Ringmaster. Thus, a Circus was founded upon caring more about the audience than any individual member of the band, and upon having respect for the power of a universal language to draw people together. The stages in our pictures were very basic carpet covered performance areas before we arrived and transformed them into what was captured in the pics. We only do it one way.
