Jon Sousa is a guitarist based out of Boulder, Colorado best known for his love of Traditional Irish music, Solo Fingerstyle Guitar, and Rock music. Jon approaches the guitar with tenderness and a depth of feeling that is rare. In addition to performing solo, he also performs and tours with Colorado based fiddler Adam Agee and the Colorado based Latin-tribal rock band, Lunar Fire. Jon loves to assemble Celtic Duos, Trios, or bands for weddings and other private functions.
Inspired by the guitar playing of Slash, Jon Sousa began rocking on the guitar at age of 11. His musical journey soon took him to the extremes of rock and metal, but not before a radical left turn into the world of electronic dance music production. After moving to Colorado in 2003, Jon fell deeply in love with Traditional Irish music and solo fingerstyle Guitar.
Jon's passion and love for music have taken him all over the world from the beautiful countryside of France, studying with master fingerstyle guitar player Pierre Bensusan to Senegal, West Africa, studying Sabar Drumming and eventually deciding to move to Ireland in 2008 where he refined his skills in interpreting Irish music.
He performs regularly with his Irish music duo, his psychedelic tribal rock band Lunar Fire, and with the shamanic journey/movie/rock show, The Portal. And every so often, you just may catch him dressed as Slash tearing it up with a Guns N' Roses tribute band.
Jon has a Bachelors degree in Music from Naropa University in Boulder, CO and an Master's degree in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick in Ireland. Jon enjoys teaching anyone who is passionate to learn on acoustic/electric guitar, tenor banjo, and mandolin.

Event•Reviewed on November 16, 2014•From Mead, CO
Jon arrived on time along with fiddle player Adam Agee. (http://adamageejonsousa.com/) The pair performed brilliantly with the musicality and craftsmanship usually associated with national touring artists not local groups. My guests were simply blown away and enjoyed every song. They were a huge part of the event's success. The event was a live action role playing game in a fantasy setting and they made sure to stay "in character" and even dressed accordingly. As for their original material... fantastic! Sometimes mellow, at times joyous but always very well executed. Perfectly fitting for a mellow and happy occasion. Oh, and both were first class guys too!

Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on August 23, 2014•From Vail, CO
Jon provided live acoustic guitar during our wedding ceremony. Everything about working with Jon was awesome. He was professional, responsive, and most importantly played every song to perfection. His song list provides a good mixture of traditional songs as well as some great classic rock options (Beatles, Hendrix, etc). He executed everything perfectly and I can’t imagine our ceremony without him. Thanks again Jon.

Wedding•Reviewed on December 29, 2007•From Denver, CO
Jon performed at our wedding, playing background music before and after the ceremony, and performing the main music for the ceremony. I have nothing but compliments for Jon, he even learned a new song for us to especially play at the wedding.
Highly recommended by us 10 / 10 and more...
