FAQ's

Q: How long have you been playing guitar?
A: Over 30 years, since the age of 5. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance.

Q: How much experience do you have performing at events?
A: I have over 20 years of professional performing experience. I have performed at 100's of events over the years, including President Bill Clinton's Inaugural Gala. I have appeared on Local and National Television.

Q: What are you rates?
A: It depends on several factors. Length of playing time, travel distance, time of year, day of the week, nature of the event, etc. Please request a free quote.

Q: How far in advance should we book you?
A: For peak event months I would suggest a year in advance. I will often get multiple requests for the same date.

Q: Do you accept last minute bookings?
A: Yes, if I am available. Please refer to my calendar for specific availability.

Q: What kind of music do you play?
A: It depends on the specific event. I customize my playlist to fit the needs of my clients. I can cover a wide array of different styles on nylon string classical and steel string acoustic guitar including: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Latin, Rock, Pop, and more. I work very closely with my clients to select the most appropriate mix of music. Please check out my audio samples for just a small sampling of what I can do.

Q: Do you have a song list and can we tell you what to (and what not to) play?
A: Yes and Yes. Scroll all the way down the page to see my set list. I realize that not every client is going to like every artist or song I cover. I welcome clients to create "play and don't play" lists.

Q: Can you do an entire set of Beatles songs? A: Yes. I get this request quite often. I know dozens of Beatles songs, including solo material by each Beatle.

Q: Some of your recordings sound like there are multiple guitar parts, how are you doing that?
A: I use a Boss RC-20XL Loop Station pedal on certain songs. This device enables me to layer multiple guitar parts during a live performance. The end result sounds like an entire ensemble is playing with just a single guitar. And I of course perform pure solo guitar pieces as well. Check out my videos and audio recordings for examples of each style.

Q: There is a piano at the venue, do you play piano? A: Yes, I do. Through the use of my guitar loop pedal, I can actually play both instruments at the same time.

Q: Can you perform on a beach or other outdoor venues?
A: Yes, I love to perform at outdoor venues. I have a battery powered sound system for such occasions.

Q: What is the significance of the GigMasters Star Rating?
A: I have earned a 5 Star Rating. I am in the top 5% out of a universe of 10,000 entertainers here.

Q: If I book you, will you provide a contract.
A: Yes, absolutely.

Q: My venue requires insurance for outside vendors, do you have any?
A: Yes, I can provide a certificate of insurance if required.

Q: Do you have references?
A: I have dozens of client reviews and testimonials. Please take some time to read them.

***CLIENT REVIEWS***

"You will be impressed with Tom's talents. His playing is incredible. I hired Tom to perform as a guitar soloist at my wedding cocktail hour and am 100% satisfied. He easily exceeded all of our requests and acted with utmost professionalism. I highly recommend him."

Dave-Chesterfield Twp, NJ

"I was so impressed by Tom's samples -- he was far better organized than all the other musicians I was considering. The quality of his work was really distinctive. He was very responsive and was able to provide answers quickly -- even via email. He was very reasonable and flexible, even when we made minor changes to our program. He showed up ahead of schedule and was there before our guests arrived. We were so thrilled by the clarity and quality of his performance -- and so were our guests!! Tom added the level of classiness that we were looking for to complement our style and made our wedding so memorable. We would hire him again for any future events!! He was awesome!!"

Nadine-Planfield, NJ

"Thomas D's group was exceptional! Tom was able to put together a trio for me with a little over one week's notice and they were on time, professional, and enjoyed by everyone at the wedding. The trio played my ceremony and cocktail hour. Everyone mentioned to me how much they enjoyed the music and asked where I found them. I would highly recommend Thomas D Classical & Jazz Ensembles! You will not be disappointed!!!"

Amy-Hillsborough, NJ

"Tom was a wonderful addition to our holiday party. Our guests were commenting on his performance for several days and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend him."

James-Red Bank, NJ

"Tom and Audrey(flute)provided beautiful music for both our ceremony on the beach in Ocean City, NJ and our cocktail hour at the reception. We were very happy with their performance and their professionalism was superb. Thank you!!"

Lisa-Ocean City, NJ

"Tom was excellent! He was early to our service and we received wonderful feedback about his performance. I'd recommend him to anyone!"

Tracy-Warrington, PA

"Tom and Audrey(flute) were wonderful. Toms e-mails kept me up to date, his web sites listed and played his music, his suggestions were helpful, but I allowed Tom to choose the music because as the Bride I was just too busy and frazzled!!! They were wonderful!! Had many great comments from our guests. Tom was at the wedding site well in advance setting up to see where all would be heard the best!! (I first thought he had the wrong time for the wedding!!) I have saved his e-mail address because we have many neice/nephews growing up where Tom may be of more assistance to us!! Tom and Audrey you were great!! Thank you both."

Joan-Cape May Courthouse, NJ

"I would recommend booking Thomas for any event as he was professional, responsive and a pleasure to deal with. All of my guests raved about his performance and I loved that he was willing to work with us and learn the songs that we wanted for our event. Thanks so much for making our wedding the beautiful event that it was!!!"

Melanie-Matawan, NJ

"Overall, Thomas provided a wonderful service at a great value. He communicated promptly and professionally via email to assist me in selecting ceremony pieces and remained flexible and helpful as I sorted through many options. Thomas arrived early and played before, during, and after the ceremony for a very reasonable price. I only wish I hadn't already booked my cocktail hour music when I contacted him! The quality of his musical performance coupled with the completely stress-free experience of working with him will insure that I recommend him in the future."

Jessica-Allaire, NJ

"Please...I want to thank you for a wonderful performance. I was sadly away for most of the cocktail music, but everyone just said it was lovely and I've received nothing but compliments as to how well the whole ceremony went. Thanks for playing....we really enjoyed it and couldn't be happier with how the day went. Best of luck with everything! And if I come across anyone who needs cocktail music, I'll be sure to recommend you."

Erin-Philadelphia, PA

"I would totally hire Tom again! We hired him and his friend, who played the bass, to play our wedding ceremony only. (I recommend hiring his friend for a little more depth with the music) We had a Beatles Theme for the wedding, and it was held in a huge outdoor garden. All the songs were Beatles, except for Here Comes the Bride. Tom was able to get all the music together in less than 3 weeks notice.

We had them play "Here comes the sun" for the candle lighting ceremony. Since its a longer song and didn't want to stand to music very long, Tom made the suggestion to start softly playing the song while the preacher explained the meaning of the ceremony and then they increased the volume while we lit the candles. It turned out great.

He was very professional. They dressed in dress pants, shirt, ties.
We had many people compliment us on the ceremony music. Based on the choice of music, it gave the ceremony a very whimsical and romantic feel.

Hiring Tom and his friend was one of the best decisions of the wedding and extremely affordable, too!"

Valerie-Wilmington, DE

"Tom and his quartet were fabulous at our wedding reception. He was highly professional and detail-oriented, and consulted heavily with us before the date to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. They arrived early and played late. The cost was extremely reasonable. We would definitely recommend Tom for your event. Thanks again! Heather & Jeff"

Heather & Jeff-Cape May, NJ

"I wanted to thank you for providing the music for our wedding ceremony. All selections we reviewed were wonderful. I wanted to especially thank you for customizing our song of choice to the instrumental version that sounded lovely when I walked down the aisle. It definitely made my day to have a rock song customized on our special day. I was certainly pleased with your professional manner and communication carried out once the wedding date was getting closer. It certainly made things easier for us since we were planning our wedding from out of state."

Nancy-Westfield, NJ

"Our wedding guests commented to me on numerous occasions how fantastic the band was. All 4 men in the band were polite, well groomed, clothing was well coordinated. They all drove at least 2 hours in bad weather to a Sunday morning, 11:30am wedding and they were all there early and well "warmed up". Their music kept our guests entertained, relaxed and happy. You can tell that playing music for these guys is a real passion. I would proudly recommend them to anyone!! Since I was in charge of the music for the wedding, this started my new marriage out on the right foot. At least for now, my new wife thinks she married a smart guy!!"

From the moment we first talked with Thomas, we knew he was the perfect match for our style. He not only specializes in classical songs but he also plays classics! After our wedding, we had people telling us how lovely the music was during our cocktail hour. What was most special to me however, was how Thomas learned a song special for my walk down the isle, All My Days, by Alexi Murdoch. He had no sheet music to learn it by, so he learned it by ear for us... and he learned it in under a week. He made me a very happy bride and my husband a very happy tearful groom ;) It came out so beautiful. I couldn't say enough good things about him!

Thomas Duffy's music added so much to our September 15th ceremony and cocktail hour! All the guests made a point of telling us how much they enjoyed his guitar playing. My husband is a guitarist and can be quite critical but he was impressed! Thomas was very accommodating throughout the whole process. I am so glad that he was a part of our day! Thank you Thomas!

Out of all the compliments I've received about my wedding, I've received the most about Thomas. My guests absolutely loved how unique his style was and the different styles of music he was able to play so well. Many people have asked me for his name, and I would recommend him for any event in a heartbeat. He was able to fill the room up with music with just one instrument, which was exactly what we were looking for. He is extremely talented and very easy to work with. We couldn't have been happier!

I would recommend Tom to anyone looking to add a special touch to their wedding, he is an amazing and talented performer and I enjoyed listening to him play. Tom went out of his way to play and create Tom Petty songs in a classical romantic sound; we received many compliments on him and couldn't have been more thrilled with his professionalism and true talent!!! He went above and beyond during our cocktail hour, playing until the very end and even using the piano along with his guitar at times!!

I can't say enough about Thomas, he was so accomodating and professional and was able to play anything and everything I asked. He nailed "Shelter from the Storm" by Bob Dylan so well during the processional that our officiant worked it into his opening address. If I ever have the need for a musician at another event, Thomas is on my speed dial! Thank you for making our wedding ceremony so special Thomas, everyone raved about your playing.

Tom was recommended to us by friends who could not say enough about his performance at their wedding. We could not agree more. Tom was all of that plus a thousand times more! His performance before, during, and after the actual ceremony simply added to the day's perfection. From the youngest (2 years old) to the oldest (90+), he played something for everyone. Tom, we could NEVER thank you enough. We will definitely be seeing you again :-)

Thomas played for our ceremony and cocktail hour. For our ceremony we has traditional, classical types of music and for the cocktail hour we requested more well known songs. Thomas was extremely professional and proved that he is an incredibly accomplished guitarist. He was wonderful to work with while leading up to the event and at the event. Thanks Thomas! Best of luck in future endeavors!

Thomas was very easy to work with and quick to respond with any questions I had. He was able to make my daughters wedding a day she will always remember. The music was absolutely perfect and all of her requests were honored. He even went and got sheet music for a special request song he had never played and it was absolutely perfect. Even with the wind gusts from Hurricane Earl blowing his music...he never missed a chord and his performance was seamless. Thomas is an amazingly talented performer and we could not have asked for anything better.

I hired Thomas for my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and I couldn't be more pleased. The amount of people who came up to me to let me know how much they were enjoying Thomas was overwhelming. I've also had numerous requests to forward Thomas's info. Communication couldn't have been better and Thomas even made a song change for the ceremony at my request about 10 minutes before it started. I highly recommend him for any event.
