Matthew H Schwarz has over twenty years of experience playing folk and early music on the harp. His instrumentals provide beautiful, peaceful background music to add enchanting atmosphere. He also sings Irish pub songs, English folk ballads, Renaissance songs, even a set of Scandinavian songs he uses at Viking festivals. (He doesn't play oldies, modern pop music, classics, etc. - just traditional folk and early music.) Matthew has a busy circuit of weekend Renaissance festivals, but is often available for weekday gigs. He does have some availability on weekends (especially in July and winter) - please reach out to check his availability. His playing has delighted at retirement homes, botanic gardens, dinner parties, a little girl's fairy tea party, weddings, etc. Matthew's main instrument is a weathered antique folk harp (at 5' tall a little smaller than an orchestral classical harp), but for louder environments (such as room full of talking people) he also has an acoustic-electric harp that can be amplified. Since there are plenty of harpists available in the big cities, and it is extra cost/challenge - Matthew does not usually seek bookings in NYC or Philadelphia. If you have onsite parking available, he will consider such events for an additional fee.
