Megan Schuh Harpist from Houston, TX

Megan Schuh has been a resident of Houston since 2010. Originally from Austin, Megan's first music lesson was at age 9 when her grandmother surprised her with a piano for Christmas. After a few short years, Megan's interest in music continued to grow. Her first spark of passion with the harp began after seeing an Austin Symphony Orchestra concert where a harpist was featured. It did not take long for her to ask for a harp lesson and to fall in love with the instrument. A music scholarship took Megan up north to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she pursued a double Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Spanish at the University of Northern Iowa. She served as principal harpist for 4 years with the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra and UNI Wind Symphony. She also served as the UNI Suzuki School of Music harp instructor with students ranging from 5 to 14 years old. Major accomplishments during her undergraduate career include a full senior recital performance, graduating cum laude, and performing for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Returning back to Texas, Megan completed her Master of Arts in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Houston in 2012. She currently serves as the second harpist for the Houston Civic Symphony and recently began performing with the Houston Symphonic Band. Megan performs regularly in the Houston and Austin areas for weddings, receptions, work functions, holiday gatherings, and with orchestral groups.
