BIOGRAPHY
Monika Vasey is a professional harpist in Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia where she is in demand as a performer and teacher. A graduate of the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Vasey holds a Masters degree in Music Education as well as Bachelors degrees in Music Education and Harp Performance. As a frequent performer and lecturer, she has traveled the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. She performs regularly as a soloist and orchestral harpist, often engaging in studio work, as well as many other events such as weddings and corporate functions. Performance highlights include engagements for many dignitaries including the 44th President of the United States, the President of Liberia, as well as the Kennedy Center Honors, the Kennedy Center Concert Hall and Millennium Stage, Carnegie Hall, and for many high-profile and government clients. An advocate of new music compositions for the harp, Ms. Vasey has concertized with numerous esteemed chamber groups and orchestral associations. She maintains a private harp studio in her home and directs the Maryland Classic Youth Harp Ensemble at Strathmore Hall. Ms. Vasey coaches for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and Young Artists of America, also at Strathmore.
