Hokule'a Academy of Polynesian Arts is Chicago's very own Polynesian entertainment company and dance academy. We pride ourselves in having the skill and knowledge of Polynesian entertainment and dance instruction direct from the islands. This knowledge is passed down to our professional dancers which provides our audiences with quality entertainment unmatched by any others in the area. Because we are an Academy of Polynesian Arts, all of our professional dancers take part in rigorous dance training and cultural enrichment throughout the year at our Chicago based institution. Some of our performers have 14 years of professional dance experience and others hold award winning titles from some of Hawai'i's most prestigious dance competitions. Our upbeat and energetic show takes audiences on a journey throughout the south Pacific islands. From the beautiful Hula dances of Hawai'i to the sounds of Tahitian drums this show will leave a lasting impression on any crowd. The Samoan Siva Afi (fire dance) is also available for hire upon request with several fire dancers available for hire per engagement. Each year our entire production features all new dances and costumes which allows our repeat clients a fresh new journey every time they book us. By keeping our show fresh and unique, we are able to stay up do date with the latest dances and fashions being presented in the islands. All of Hokule'a's vibrant costumes worn by the dancers are handmade from natural and authentic materials shipped in directly from the islands. The finest, traditional island methods are used when making these costumes which makes them stunning on stage and durable for transport. Hokule'a starts teaching students as young as 4 years old and quite often we receive requests for our keiki (children) to perform in a show. We have several keiki students that are available to perform in shows throughout the year. They do tend to steal the show and are the perfect addition to street festivals, summer park district shows or other family friendly events.
