Once Upon a Toon is a unique assembly program featuring storytelling and live cartoon illustration! Joe draws the story as he tells them. This one of a kind program is lively, engaging, entertaining and educational.
The average show features:
A drawing guessing game
Two stories illustrated live
A cartooning demonstration
Question and answer period
A short story about how Joe's dyslexia helped him become a cartoonist.
The entire program last about 40 minutes and features from 15-20 illustrations which remain with the school.
Joe is available for keynotes, assembly programs, festivals, libraries and more.
After assembly programs Joe is available for a short 15 minute meet and greet with student artist, gifted program or other students.
With dozens of stories to choose from Joe can cater his program to any age. From kindergarten to senior citizen groups.
Joe brings over 30 years experience as a cartoonist and storyteller. He has performed at some of the top festivals in the US and in hundreds of schools and libraries across the country.
Joe has been visiting resident cartoonist of the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California since it's opening in 2001.
Joe also offers hands-on cartooning workshops in the classroom. Lasting 40 min to 1.5 hours depending on class time. These are the same workshops he has offered at the Charles M. Schulz Museum for the past 15 years.
