Friends, sports, fraternity and most importantly, perfect 20/20 vision. Then it happened with no warning, no time to prepare, life began to blur. Over two short months I lost central vision in my right eye, followed closely by my left. The diagnosis: a rare genetic disorder called Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), a disease with no treatment and no cure in sight. At first, I thought losing my sight meant forfeiting my life. But I soon learned that with every challenge comes an opportunity for growth. With some hard work and dedication, a year after losing my sight I was able to win the World Blind Golf Championship. All while advocating for changing perceptions of disability through features on ABC 20/20, CNN.com, MTV's True life, & ESPN.com. Now, I empower audiences all over the world, sharing my story of turning trauma into triumph and how to live a limitless life. My mission is to help people realize the potential in obstacles and see challenges as opportunities for success. Although I cannot see my audiences, in each presentation I help them see how to effect positive change into their own lives. I have had the honor of speaking to companies such as Aflac, Baracuda Networks, Honda, Kaiser, John Hancock, Wells Fargo, and many more. We all have the ability to make a huge impact on the organizations and the people around us, but due to limiting beliefs and adversity many become blind to this ability. It's my objective for your audience to realize the potential in these obstacles and see challenges as opportunities for success. With a captivating and humorous account of how I was able to learn to lead through one of the toughest times of my life, I inspire each person in the audience to influence their organizations, careers, teams and personal lives in an impactful way that will last long after the presentation is over.
