Bassoon in the Wild Jazz Band from Fair Lawn, NJ

People are amazed to hear bassoon in this type of genre. Usually it is heard in chamber music groups or in the orchestra with limited opportunities to shine as solo instrument. The interaction of the entire group is telepathic. My group Bassoon in the Wild comprised of guitar, bass and bassoon has been together for 15 years and we have played at a myriad of venues ranging from jazz festivals, jazz clubs, office parties, holiday events, birthday parties etc. Our repertoire includes blues, swing, Brazilian, standards and originals. The trio is not too loud so that people have difficulty hearing themselves when talking with one another. The group can be supplemented, however, with drums for a more lively and danceable sound. The joy I feel in communicating creatively with such a talented musicians is felt by those in the audience. They swing with the band and feel that they have experienced something very unique and rewarding. The following is a recent review of a office party that we performed at in New York City: Cyrus M. Music Entertainment Michael on the bassoon was terrific and so was was his ensemble comprising upright bass and electric guitar. They gave the party lots of character, and the guests had only good and positive things to say about their performance. They played sophisticated and elegant jazz in the background so that guests could continue their conversations while enjoying the music. All credit to Michael for transforming the bassoon, which is confined to classical music, into a versatile jazz instrument that produces a beautiful and sonorous sound. Besides playing good music, they are very nice and professional. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone who wants sophisticated jazz at their event.
