Jazz Scene Award winning saxophonist Chuck Johnson has been a band leader and performer for 35+ years creating his distinctive voice by fusing the hard bop East Coast aesthetic with his unique West Coast musical experiences. As an artist he comes together to share his joy in performing a kaleidoscope of classic jazz and bringing soul to modern music. Johnson’s ensemble was selected winner of the 2002 Long Beach Jazz Search Mainstream Artist of the Year, the 2005 Chuck Niles Jazz Music Award and he is listed with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission Musicians Roster. Johnson has worked with The Temptations/Four Tops, Barbara Morrison, John Stephens BIG Bluzzzy Band, Francisco Aquabella, Roy McCurdy, Chester Whitmore’s Opus One Big Band, Bloodstone, Billy Higgins and more.
