Saxophonist Johnnie-Lee Walton's path in the world of jazz first began when he attended the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford 1995-2000. At Hartt he studied with the world renowned jazz master Jackie McLean and with Kris Jenson. At Hartt Mr. McLean instilled in Johnnie-Lee respect to the jazz masters such has Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Bud Powell and Theolonious Monk, John Coltrane etc. The Johnnie-Lee Walton Jazz Ensemble plays jazz ranging from straight ahead hard bop to standards and background music. The ensemble can range in size from duo to quartet. All the members of the ensemble are formally trained on their instruments with extensive performing experience.
