Brad and his band were great! Brad is very easy going and detail oriented - a true professional. Our special requests of adding a singer for a few tunes and having me play bass on a tune (without any rehearsing) went off without a hitch. It was obvious our guests enjoyed the music from the many rounds of applause after songs. I would highly recommend hiring Portrait in Jazz again.

We were absolutely delighted with Portrait In Jazz. They played for our son’s bar mitzvah party.
The band leader, Brad Ellenberg, is professional, easy to work with, and accommodating with special requests. The rest of the guys in the band were all terrific too.
Many guests praised the band for their musicianship. The volume was perfect, also—you could easily have a conversation while listening to the music.
The hora set they played was great. It helped create the festive environment we were looking for at this party! We started with traditional Jewish dancing and the band smoothly transitioned to jazz.

Brad & company were so accommodating and helpful. All of our guests complimented us on our choice of music. I was unsure of what I wanted to walk to but Brad and I worked together and came up with the perfect piece. Breaks were timed when appropriate rather than a strict schedule. Portrait in Jazz is perfect. First, they are a group of experienced, talented musicians who play a huge variety of jazz pieces with skill and class! All of my guests -- everyone of the 50 or so people--commented that the group made the night. We asked Brad (who was the point person) to play one hour cocktail/background music; one hour dinner and eating music; and the last hour dance music. Brad really listens and divided the music and mood exactly the way we wanted it. He consistently told us he could adjust to our guests' wishes--and he did lowering volume when needed. What a wonderful gig. Hire this band and you won't go wrong. Everyone will be delighted. Bravo.

Portrait in Jazz did a great job to add an exciting and elegant dimension to an outdoor birthday party of about 45 people. I found the contact person, Brad, very knowledgeable and accommodating in both putting together the repetoire and playing requests. It was obvious to the guests that the musicians were very skilled and enthusiastic and played well together. They killed it. The evening was a memorable evening for all guests due in no small measure to portrait in jazz.

Portrait in Jazz is a amazing group of musicians who brought life to our holiday party. First of all, their music is fantastic. So many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed their playing. And - even when I didn't know exactly which style and selection of music to ask for, Brad Ellenberg used his good judgment to select pieces that were just right to fit the mood and the tone of our event. Beyond this, each of the musicians was a consummate professional. They arrived at our event ahead of schedule -which was a great comfort to me as the event planner. In addition, they were so accommodating - checking in with me at every step.

Portrait in Jazz, led by Brad Ellenberg, are consummate professionals with exceptional talent. As a long time jazz fanatic, I wanted nothing but the best for my wedding. And that is exactly what we got, a group of artists, who after years of playing together, have elevated to the music to art. They have an incredible grasp of of the jazz vernacular and are comfortable in any style, from swing to modern. They were also some of the nicest, most accommodating musicians I have ever come across. If you are looking for exceptional jazz music, look no further than Portrait in Jazz.

We hired the Brad Ellenberg Trio to play for a birthday party with ~80 guests. Brad was a good listener in our pre-event discussions and understood very well what we were looking for: Engaging background music for a cocktail party. After arrival, the trio set up quickly, and delighted our guests with their engaging but unobtrusive, versatile style. I heard many positive comments from our guests, and we were very happy with our choice.
