This band, Peggy Wendell in particular as that is who I had most of my contact with, was super nice and accommodating. They love playing music and seemed to have as much fun as our guests. They didn't mind coming early to get set up and work around our schedule.
This fun, versatile band is perfect for listening and dancing. Swingnuts Jazz plays high-spirited swing, tango, Brazilian, and hot jazz—favorites and rarities from the 1920s to the 1960s, plus snappy modern originals. When appropriate, the set list includes seasonal selections. By special arrangement, clients can request favorites songs in advance for the band to work up.
Swingnuts Jazz typically plays as a five-piece band with vocals, piano, bass, percussion, sax, flute, and guitar. The band also plays as a trio or quartet. Each player adds a depth of musicality and excitement.
The band generally arrives an hour early to set up, bringing a sound engineer and high quality sound system if necessary. The band provides recorded music during breaks and coordinates with event organizers to support announcements or activities.
Swingnuts build upon our rich all-American jazz heritage, improvising solos to keep classic jazz tunes fresh and immediate. Peggy Wendel's well-crafted originals are written in a variety of traditional jazz styles and cover topics as diverse as life: love, farmers markets, airports, bees, global economics, and Facebook.
