The Carl Institute Jazz Band from Austin, TX

We are a highly organized Jazz Ensemble mostly forming small combos with vocals and horns as the center. We have a large and growing roster of some of the most talented young musicians in Austin who truly love their craft. We have been providing performing and recording in Austin since 2012. The current members of the Carl Institute have come together over years of uncanny circumstances and happy coincidences. We are very much a found family based around a love of music, improvisation and performance. Our goal as a group is to bring together as many improvisational musicians as possible to continue the great tradition of spontaneous sound that has been with humanity as long as language.
