Darryl Brenzel is a seasoned veteran in the jazz world. He spent 26 years with the US Army Jazz Ambassadors performing for audiences across the country and around the world. Having studied at the famed Berklee College of Music,he has played at the Montreaux, Nice, Northsea and Newport Jazz festivals, been on stage w/ the Boston Pops, Baltimore Symphony, National Symphony, Detroit Symphony and New York Pops, backed musicians such as Chris Isaak, The Beach Boys, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Drifters and Jerry Butler as well as leading his own group in jazz clubs along the east coast. (That list is just partial!) As a music educator Darryl has been part of the jazz faculty at Towson University and Gettysburg College and currently teaches at Shenandoah University. Darryl can bring all this experience to whatever event you have planned and can provide the perfect touch with a duo (sax and piano or sax and bass)), trio (sax, piano, upright bass) or quartet (sax, piano, bass and drums). The music is typically a mix of songs from The Great American Songbook (Cole Porter, Gershwin, Rogers & Hart, etc.), jazz and swing classics (Ellington, Miles Davis, etc) and latin/bossa novas. A few originals or jazz arrangements of pop tunes are also a part of the repertoire on occasion. Usually it is all instrumental music but a network of the areas top jazz vocalists are also on call should the occasion require it. Versions of requested tunes for special occasions can be provided as well.
