Ed Kinder, pianist Jazz Pianist from Sarasota, FL

I am a solo keyboard instrumentalist. I prefer to play real pianos, but I do have my own electric piano to use when needed. When I perform, I accompany myself with MIDI bass and drums that I custom program for my arrangements. The result is a one man jazz band that sounds like a piano trio. My repertoire includes classic American songbook standards, straight ahead jazz, pop, and funk. I don’t sing but if you prefer to have a singer I have several that I work with. I have been playing professionally since I was 14 years old. Nearly 60 years. I started as a rock ‘n’ roll drummer in the 60s during the time of the “British invasion“. During the 70s, I got some professional education at Berklee College of music in Boston, and played saxophone and keyboards in the typical funk/horn bands of the 70s. In the 80s, I settled in Sarasota Florida, and played mostly piano and some saxophone. In the 80s and 90s I played mostly blues and what was considered oldies music at the time. In the late 90s I got away from playing in bands for a while and started my own recording studio in Sarasota. For nearly 20 years I had a dual career as a High school math teacher and a recording engineer. I retired from teaching 11 years ago, and have recently turned over the management of the recording studio, though I still own it. During these past 20 years, I have concentrated more on the American songbook and post bebop jazz. I have videos on TikTok.
