Doreen Grimaldi and her band, Down A Fifth, are a group of talented and professional musicians who have appeared in venues in and around the New York area. Our group plays a mix of jazz, swing, bossa novas, blues, R& B, and pop tunes, and is sure to be a welcome addition to any party or event that you are planning. We can provide a small duo or trio for a cocktail party or private event, or you can book our full band which includes vocalist, saxophone/flutist, keyboardist, stand-up bassist, and drummer. We love what we do, and we will bring that enthusiasm to your event!
Our song list includes many favorites from the Great American Songbook as well as jazz classics and standards. We also perform lots of R&B and swing tunes that are perfect for dancing. We can be as mellow or as loud as you like, and we will gladly accommodate any requests you have for special songs to be played at your event. We are friendly and professional, and take pride in providing you with the best possible music for your event.
If you are planning a Holiday party in the near future, we perform a wide range of Holiday classics as well, all done in a jazz style. Our warm, inviting sound will set the festive mood for your event.

Doreen and Down a Fifth were fantastic. With a DIY wedding we had a lot on our plate and when the day arrived the band was ready to go and very flexible and dynamic in making things run smoothly. The music was great. A perfect blend of music. Guests loved being able to dance and talk. The music created the fun social environment we wanted and no one needed ear plugs or missed out on good conversations with new friends and family. We highly recommend them!
