Rex Matzke first formed this jazz group in 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri. After enjoying year-long engagements at Sirabellas Restaurant and then at Hannigans on the Riverfront the quartet featuring Rex on saxophone with piano bass and drums won for best original jazz composition in the greater St. Louis area song competition. Jazz Express is the small group out of Swing City Express considered a mainstream jazz group that performs many standards and jazz classics that the listener will recognize and enjoy. Swing City Express is a 9 piece Jazz/Swing band with or without vocalist that can play jazz sets only or music for dancing. Our book includes Glenn Miller Swing, Jump swing, Latin(cha cha, bossa nova, tango) and classic rock with horns. Check out rexmatzkesax.com for more info and music samples!

Rex and his team were really great. They were dressed very professionally. They showed up on time. They played beautifully. We hired them to play for our 1920's Murder Mystery themed Christmas Party. It was the perfect addition to the party. They even played music themes that went along with some awards we gave away. They just did a really great job. I would highly recommend them.
