Jeff Katz, CPS Keynote Speaker from Richmond, VA

Jeffrey A. Katz served as a police officer in his native Philadelphia and eventually traded his badge and microphone for a pen and microphone. Jeff was a columnist for The Boston Herald and has hosted award winning radio programs across the United States. For the past 13 years he has been the afternoon drive personality for Newsradio WRVA in Central Virginia. For more than thirty years, Jeff has volunteered as a police peer counselor and has earned professional designations as a Board Certified Mental Health Coach as well as Certified Professional Speaker and Master Motivational Speaker. He has a wonderful reputation as a highly sought after presenter for Virginia law enforcement academies where he frequently shares the keynote presentation, “Why Would Anyone Want To Do That Job?” with trainees in various basic schools as well as command staff in advanced training courses. He speaks on issues relating to the lives and challenges faced by those with special needs in his keynote address "Julia's Quest for Cookies" which focuses on his personal experiences as the father to a severely disabled daughter. Jeff is very proud to have been awarded membership in the International Law Enforcement Education and Training Association, the premier professional organization for those who provide the knowledge necessary for our thin blue line to keep themselves safe while they protect the larger community. His particular focus is on officer mental health and wellness. Jeff presently serves as the Lead Instructor at the Pamunkey Regional Jail for the Inside/Out Dad program. In the class, presented by The Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia, he works with inmates who are looking to improve their fathering skills and build better relationships with their children.
