Inspire your future with a speaker from the past! Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, the "Bull Moose," and John Adams, 2nd President and the "Colossus of Independence," entertain, inform, and invigorate your next conference, seminar, dinner, fundraiser, or event. More than 'a guy in a suit,' each of these icons is a living, breathing force brought to life by Peyton Dixon: an actor-historian who has been making unique historic experiences for 25 years. Whether you choose Adams or Roosevelt, this is a keynote address truly unlike any other. John Adams, the outspoken, introspective, and underestimated founding father, was not just the President between Washington and Jefferson; he also brought them to prominence in American history. His labors paved the way for American Independence; his words influenced the American Constitution. Adams preserved justice by defending British soldiers in the Boston Massacre, and peace against foreign powers during his Presidency, and amongst his countrymen with two peaceful transitions of Presidential power. John Adams may not have always said what the country wanted to hear, but he was certainly what – and who – the country needed. Theodore Roosevelt came from privileged beginnings, but lived his life as a man of the people. Born with debilitating asthma and poor eyesight in his youth, he channeled the words of his father to “get action; be somebody.” Roosevelt lived a life of vigor for six decades, with a resume including New York Assemblyman, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, New York Police Commissioner, Governor, President - not to mention ranchman, conservationist, author, hunter, and Nobel Peace Prize winner. His legacy is one of making a difference for the people - especially those who felt that they had no voice. He took action where he saw the need to take it. He worked with those who some considered 'the other side.' He labored not for his own reward, but so that our children, "and their children's children, might receive the benefit. TR, with courage and tenacity, led this country into a new century, and his stories, his strength, his spirit can inspire you to step forward into the arena for the benefit and enjoyment of generations to come. Peyton Dixon engages and inspires audiences around the country as Presidents John Adams and Theodore Roosevelt. With over two decades as an actor-historian, Peyton combines research and information with emotion, energy, and dedication. Dixon’s Adams and Roosevelt dine at small tables for private dinners and V.I.P. fundraisers, motivate at leadership seminars and retreats, and entertain and enrich large audiences in speaker series. He regularly appears at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, the National Archives, New York’s Federal Hall, and Freedoms Foundation. He has shared the experiences of these American icons with everyone from Colonial Dames to the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, from colleges and universities to Mobil/Exxon and Bank of America. From celebrating Independence Day with descendants of the Signers of the Declaration, and commemorating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, to corporate seminars in Massachusetts and fundraising banquets in West Virginia to college lecture series in Georgia and History Days at schools nationwide, Dixon’s mission is always to bring Roosevelt and Adams from the pedestals of history to a more human level that can still inform and inspire. Peyton has also been featured on documentaries on A&E, the Biography Channel, NPR, and on the Emmy-award winning “A Taste of History” with Walter Staib.
