Tres was born in Puerto Rico and was the third child in his family, which gives him one of his favorite introductions: his name is pronounced “Trace,” like “uno, dos, tres.” He jokes that he voted for the last child to be named “Ocho,” but apparently he was the only one who saw the brilliance of the plan. Tres discovered magic at age 8 and began performing paid shows by age 12. Since then, he has built a lifetime of experience in front of real audiences. His magic has taken him from the Philippines, where his family lived near Clark Air Base, to military-connected performances, a service mission in New England, and later shows while serving in the U.S. Army, including performances as far south as Panama. He has performed from California to Maine, along with decades of shows throughout Utah and the surrounding region. From 1991 to 1998, Tres worked at the legendary Orem magic store MCGIZMOS, where he demonstrated magic, entertained customers, promoted the store brand, and continued developing the sleight of hand, timing, misdirection, and audience management that still shape his shows today.
