Jody Sims, is the drummer of the Motown recording group "Switch" that found fame with the hit songs "There'll Never Be," "I Call Your Name," "I Wanna Be Closer," "Love Over & Over Again," "Best Beat In Town," and "Don't Take My Love Away." Switch featured two of the older DeBarge siblings Bobby and Tommy DeBarge as well as Phillip Ingram, Gregory Williams and Eddie Fluellin. When Jody plays "Oldies With A Beat", he weaves a spell-binding show delivering a fun package that keeps his clients singing and dancing non-stop to their favorite sounds of the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s along with his own reminiscences about being a part of the golden era of Funk, R&B, and Pop. Jody's professional world was peopled with a who's who of Urban and Pop Top-40 giants. Berry Gordy, pioneer and founder of Motown, was a personal inspiration to Jody, particularly with Mr. Gordy's gift for picking hit songs. Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson family, along with his wife Hazel Gordy-Jackson, was Switch's manager, and Jermaine wrote several of Switch's hits, including "I Wanna Be Closer" and "Calling On All Girls." Barry White was instrumental in Jody's music life by being manager, writer and producer of several songs for Jody's former band, White Heat, before the Switch days. When magical maestro Curtis Mayfield was in the lab/studio creating his two smash hits "Super Fly" and "Freddie's Dead," Jody was there!
