Karen Faith is the Founder and CEO of Others Unlimited, an empathy training company providing culture transformation work for teams. An ethnographer and strategist, her findings, talks and workshops have guided initiatives for Google, Amazon, Indeed, Intuit, Applebee’s, Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Federal Reserve Bank, The NBA, The ACLU, and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, to name only the cool ones. She has received many professional and creative fellowships, including The Dwight Conquergood award for ethnographic art in London, four residencies at the Contemporary Artists Center in New York, and the Hyper Island Business Transformation in Stockholm. She has taught students at Penn State, the Juilliard School for the Arts, University of Missouri, University of Kansas, Chapman University, and the National University of Singapore School of Design. She’s presented at Googleplex, DesignUp, HOW Design Live, Kansas City Design Week, the 4As Stratfest and in 2022, gave a TEDx talk to an audience of 3000, which received over a million views in its first 3 months online, and has now been viewed three million times. In 2024, her talk was featured on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to tee up a conversation about self-loathing with author Blaise Aguirre. Trained in ethnographic field work by Dr. Thomas Loer (the German sociologist credited with the creation of Objective Hermeneutics), Karen has the scientific rigor and philosophical grit to fit in with academic circles, but she doesn’t. Once called “a walking HR violation with a heart of gold,” she can be relied on to disarm the cynical, disorient the delicate, and disrobe the reverent, all while smothering them with laugh-out-loud kindness. Just before her TEDx talk, Karen kicked off her live storytelling habit with the tale of her spiritual path–one that begins in the religious juvenile detention she grew up in and ends on a toilet in a Brazilian ayahuasca ceremony.
