Her favorite thing is being a strolling violin player: taking musical requests so she can play people their favorite song and put a smile on their face. She can play something upbeat that will lift their spirits or something emotional that can make them cry. Whatever is needed in the moment she can do! However, she also loves to play with Orchestras and in Quartets such as for Weddings or Events. She currently performs frequently with the North Carolina Symphony and various other ensembles in the triangle area.
Having played the violin since the age of 7, Ashley graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance. She has always aspired to be a professional violinist since she grew up in a musical family. Her mother is a violist in the North Carolina Symphony, and her father is a band director and strolling clarinetist and saxophonist.
Ashley also has many accomplishments. She has attended numerous music festivals around the country, including Brevard Music Festival, Meadowmount School of Music in New York, and the Kennedy Center Summer Music Institute in Washington, D.C. She has also won various competitions in Raleigh and in Michigan, including 2nd place in the Musical Society for the Arts Competition, 1st place in the Robert C. Young String Competition, the first and youngest string player ever to win the Raleigh and Durham Symphony concerto competitions in high school, and the Triangle Youth Philharmonic Concerto Competition. She was also chosen to represent the School of Music in Michigan's "Conservatory Project" and got to perform a solo at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
While having an impressive Classical Background, she was also in the Bluegrass band called Swift Creek for two years. She has been recorded on 5 CD's, including playing the music in the background for a T.V. commercial.
Ashley is also a skilled clinician and teacher. She has taught private Suzuki Violin lessons/Fiddle Class at Meredith College and conducted the orchestra for 4 years at Lamar Stringfield Music Camp. She was also the Strings director at Cardinal Gibbons High School, Our Lady of Lourdes School, and Saint Raphael's School from 2015-2017.
Ashley always captivates audiences with her passion, nuance, and lush sound and would love the opportunity to make any event fun and entertaining with her ability to stroll as a violinist or elegant and radiant for an event such as a Wedding or Gala.
