Allen Clark Photographer from Nashville, TN

When your favorite band puts out a new record or you happen to be reading the latest copy of Wired magazine, little thought probably goes into who took the pictures or provided the illustration for the article on the cover of the cd...but there is usually someone who does know whether it's the photographer who shot it or the art director who made it all happen. There is a whole world and a crew behind the scenes that make it happen . Allen Clark is one of those people. He comes from a town that is known for its musical heritage and, even though he still lives there, he never has really been associated with the style of music for which his town is world famous. His profession is photography...and his hometown is Nashville. “I use to be afraid of telling art directors where I was located when they called, but things have changed in this town so much since I first started. But more than that...my work has never really looked like country music anyway.” The funny thing is, he has worked more with rock musicians like Dave Matthews and Imogen Heap, as well as prominent national figures including Walter Cronkite and President George H Bush. “I haven't stayed away from being a Nashville shooter. It just worked out this way.” Lately he has found himself shooting more advertising. With clients ranging from Jack Daniels to Lifepoint Hospitals, he still hasn't forgotten what brought him to where he is. “I will always love shooting music...there are so many parallels between music and photography, and even though the industry is going through major changes, it still is a powerful medium and to be able to provide the images for this is a blessing.”
