How I Photograph Events Photographic style: I capture PEOPLE IN ACTION (dancing, talking, ceremonies, entertainment-programming), in a baseline photojournalistic style. Portraits of attendees (standard poses PLUS active poses—for example "We present: YOU" with arms out towards one person). Quality control: I make sure eyes are open with good expressions (or else take it again). Decor & food (you've gone to a lot of trouble). Details are important! I tend to remain unobtrusive when capturing action and add mild coaching when doing on-site portraits. I do joke with people to bring out their best expressions (mostly later on in the event). Specialties: 1. Big group portrait of everyone at your event, taken from a 5-foot ladder that I bring with me 2. Projection of photos taken at the event towards the end of the event. I bring all the equipment. I can include photos you supply in the show. 3. Dynamic albums (if desired): eye-popping albums using background & foreground photos and tasteful special effects 4. Print packages. In addition to receiving all your edited proofs on CD-ROM, you get to choose your favorites to receive as prints, included in my price. The number depends on the duration of the event. 5. Different points of view: if there is a balcony, a stairway, a high window or a rooftop, I'll be up there taking overviews of your event. Also, I lie on the floor looking up, with people circled around me. I also have a drone for serious aerials, where appropriate. 6. Special lighting: I don't always rely on flash, but use video (continuous) lights for more natural lighting of faces, also available light and window light where possible. During candle-lighting ceremonies I will take photos by candle-light.
