Other recordings include two original holiday songs, Wishing You A Happy New Year, sung by Leslie Uggams, and The Warmth Of Christmas, sung by Curtis King, Jr., with the 41-piece Curtis McKonly Orchestra recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. Additional release is America the Beautiful for vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra. He has composed the music for TV themes, including WCBS News ('89-'92), Shame on You, Sunday Edition, The Late Show, Sports Update and A&E: the Stage, in addition to underscores for national commercials, theatrical trailers, and promotional spots for networks including NBC, WPIX, WCVB, and Showtime. Arranging credits include a gold CD with Vanessa Williams, and orchestrations for the Boston Pops for singers Jennifer Hudson (July 4, 2012 and 2016), Megan Hilty, and Laura Benanti. He has also orchestrated for the Chicago Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, and the NSO, and has written arrangements for Brian Stokes Mitchell, the Four Tops and Temptations, and the Beach Boys. As a pianist, he has played/arranged and conducted for Leslie Uggams, Diahann Carroll and Ben Vereen. On Broadway he has played keyboards for Les Misérables, Mamma Mia, Goodbye Girl, Cats and Tommy, and was the Assistant Conductor for the National Tour of Les Misérables. McKonly has performed the shows Wicked, Lion King, West Side Story and Evita at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, and also toured as featured pianist with the Mannheim Steamrollers, for which he performed the TV special for PBS. Recent credits include orchestrations for Megan Hilty for the National Symphony Orchestra, a national commercial for Walmart which aired in 2020/2021, a recent release of two original songs: I’m A Stone Harbor Girl, She’s A Stone Harbor Girl.
