Tom LaDow Pianist from Destin, FL

Keyboardist - Tom LaDow Tom LaDow studied classical piano at Birmingham Southern College under the direction of concert pianist Sam Howard and later at Samford University under the direction of classical pianist W. W. Turkevich. He cut his teeth playing for many years on the Birmingham jazz scene. LaDow played regularly with all the great B'ham players among them many Alabama Jazz Hall-of-Famers including trumpeter Bo Berry and bassist Cleve Eaton of Count Basie fame. Tom was the house pianist for several years with Bo's club on 18th street where the group would often back-up and jam with the great international headliners as they came through to jam after a concert. "It was electrifying to back up the likes of Winton Marsalis and Grover Washington, Jr. among many others for hours into the night", said LaDow of this experience, adding "It' was the best proving ground for learning the jazz trade." Tom also regularly performed at Birmingham's City Stages each year often backing up national and international jazz greats. One notable experience was performing with the late great Eddie Harris before he passed on. LaDow has been in Atlanta for a few years now doing mostly single and trio jazz performances, and doing some recording. He is also the keyboardist for The Jazz Jones Legacy north Fulton County which is a group noted for its high-energy contemporary jazz sound.
