A Note from Santa Mac:
Seasons greetings and thanks for stopping by.
One of my favorite scenes in Disney's The Santa Clause is when Tim Allen's character Scott Calvin comes to the stunned realization that his belly really is that big, that his beard really is that white, and that children really are starting to point and stare.
And it starts to click for him… He is Santa.
Now, I've worked with kids for over 30 years. I've worked in children's ministry writing and performing for summer programming. I've toured the country as a professional actor with a children's theatre company. For 15 years, I performed for audiences of 5 – 11 year olds in winter and summer camp events. I've been a middle school substitute teacher since 2011.
I've worked with kids, a lot.
But it was a stunning realization in 2013 that my belly really was that big, my beard really was that white, and children really were starting to point and stare.
That December I was cast to play Kris Kringle in A Miracle on 34th Street for Denton Community Theatre and it was then that I rediscovered the magic of Santa Claus.
Since that first turn on stage, I have had a sleigh full of experiences all around north Texas playing Santa.
Breakfast with Santa, family parties, large corporate and small business events. I've worked in both public and private school settings. I even get to work with a family as part of their amazing outdoor candy cane lane display.
All of it more fun than I would ever have imagined.
I have always worked with kids and it has always been a rewarding adventure. But nothing quite compares with this experience of stepping into the Red Suit during the Christmas Season.
It is a delightful blessing in my life and I welcome the opportunity to join you in your event.
