Doreen Daniels: Bio: Doreen Daniels hails from the “Pocono Mountains” of Pennsylvania. Her musical career began at 15 years old where she performed in local lounges, for weddings and all kinds of private functions. Doreen started singing as soon as she could talk! She began playing guitar by ear at the age of 9 with the help of her big brother. Doreen quickly took up a variety of other instruments including drums, (just like Karen, though she didn’t realize it until much later in life), violin, trumpet, and pretty much any instrument she could get her hands on! In her early 20s she began performing at the Pocono Mountains Caesar’s Palace resorts such as “Mount Airy Lodge” and many other honeymoon resorts. band She also performed with show bands during that time. At Mount Airy lodge she had the privilege of opening for Robert Goulet and Frank Sinatra junior. She holds a Master's Degree in Music and English having attended Juilliard School of Music in New York City as well as many other colleges and universities, such as Marywood University, Penn State, Westchester State University, and Florida Atlantic University where she studied conducting, arranging, and music theory. She has taught Band, Orchestra, and English in the public schools of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida over the years as well as giving private instruction. Doreen is a composer, arranger, and recording artist having 6 albums to her credit as well as a book of original l music. She also spent time in Nashville as a studio musician and a performer at “Legends”, “Tootsies”, and the “Bluebird Cafe”. While Doreen still performs in the Central and South Florida area as a solo variety show act, her focus has been on her “Karen Carpenter/Anne Murray Tribute Show”. From the age at nine Doreen was in love with Karen and Anne's magical and rich sound and tried to model her own voice after these legendary stars. (It is now her greatest joy to share the musical legacy the carpenters have for us to enjoy. Audiences will be delighted and amazed at the way in which Doreen captures the very essence of Karen Carpenter. In addition, Doreen has a one woman show featuring many genres from yesterday and today.
