Ms. Carmen Singer from Detroit, MI

I have been singing my entire life! I am a recording artist, my album "Greatness" is available on all digital platforms. I am a 2019 Detroit Music Awards Nominee. I enjoy singing jazz, oldies, Motown, R&B and Soul Music. I have been compared to artists like, Lauryn Hill, Estelle, Chaka Khan and Erykah Badu. I am available solo with background recording tracks or I can bring my band, depending on your budget. I am charismatic and can do a family friendly show (family reunion vibe), festivals too, but am also experienced with the nite life crowd. References available:) BIO Carmen Diaz, known by her stage name as Ms. Carmen. Originally from Philadelphia, PA now living in Detroit, MI. She was born in Fairbanks, AK some years ago on November 12, she is a scorpio. She started singing at the age of three. Her mother would record her songs on cassette tape as she would beat on cardboard boxes, sing and rap about her experiences at preschool with her friends. She then moved on to standing up on the seats singing on buses as she entered grade school. Eventually she joined the choir at church and was a praise and worship leader and soloist. Leaving home at 17 for college she continued her love for music, taking vocal lessons and joining the marching band. Shortly after graduation from Morgan State University, she moved to Motown, Detroit, MI. After only living here for a few short months she joined a Motown cover band called ICON and began to sing around the city. This past year she began writing and singing her own original music, working with a popular local producer, Mel Melodic. On her birthday last year she released “Greatness”, her first album featuring 9 original songs all self written. The songs are soulful and telling of her very personal story of heartbreak, love and triumph. It was nominated at the 2019 Detroit Music Awards for Outstanding Urban Recording. Her musical influences are Amel Larrieux, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Beyonce' and Ella Fitzgerald. She can be seen locally at various open mic venues and talent showcases. She has a wide range of vocal abilities, jazz, rock, rhythm and blues, as will as hip hop. She is a diverse talent worthy of celebration. Her music is empowering and inspirational.
