"Singers Vicki Doney and Bob Dorough were inspired choices: she's pliable and versatile, and he remains one of jazz's great voices" - Kirk Silsbee, downbeat magazine (Sep 15, 2009) "Doney's soaring voice, its purity reminiscent of Jo Stafford (no small compliment). I would not have believed something so affecting could have come with "Furry Bear" as text, but it does. And what Woods and Doney make out of "Solitude" is a magnificent achievement." - Cadence Magazine (Oct 01, 2009) "... especially shimmering string section before Doney caps it off. Slightly melancholic, it is at once as pretty as it is unadorned." - Andrew Velez, All About Jazz (Apr 15, 2009) "....a series of affecting and stinging episodes, including one in which Supremes-like marketers hail the ringing in of the new soft rock with strong input from Vicki Doney, Val Hawk and Nancy Reed as the marketing trio. - Donald Rosenberg, Gramophone Magazine 2010 Christmas Special (Dec 01, 2010) Hello! Bonni Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, American Songbook and Broadway tunes are my joy. Some originals as well. Here is a short bio: Vicki Doney (formerly Vicki McClure) sang Reach Out and Touch before an estimated TV audience of 2.5 billion people during the Opening Ceremonies of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. In 1986 as a member of the LA JAZZ CHOIR she was a featured soloist on the Grammy nominated Album "From All Sides". She sang on the NBC TV show "100 Star Salute" honoring Lucille Ball that featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jimmy Stewart, Milton Berle, Cary Grant, Carl Reiner, Burt Reynolds and Lucie's son, Desi Arnez Jr. She has performed with The Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of John Williams. She has recorded and performed with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra and Les Browns Band of Renown, sung duets with Lou Rawls, Kenny Loggins and has appeared on the same stage as George Burns, Winton Marsalis and Ray Charles. In 2000 Vicki married and moved to Northeast Pennsylvania. She released her second CD on Pacific St Records , entitled: 'Natural Woman' produced by Eric Doney. It features artist greats Bob Dorough, Will Lee and Phil Woods. More recently, Vicki can be heard on the new release of "The Childrens Suite"; an jazz orchestral stage piece written and arranged by jazz legend alto saxophonist Phil Woods. The text is taken from the poetry of A.A. Milne's "Now We Are Six". The DVD release is set for Spring, 2009. Most recently she is featured with her female vocal group 3Spirit as the marketing trio in the award winning 2010 release of American Opera Classics by Paul Salerni: "Tony Caruso's final Broadcast" which was reviewed in Gramophone Magazines' December issue. Vicki can be seen regularly at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem in PA and in NYC on Mondays with the Howard Williams Jazz Orchestra at The Garage Jazz Restaurant. Come by.
