Lyrical is an author, poet, spoken word artist, motivational speaker, and teacher. A product of the hip-hop era, with a mounting background education on American and English literary studies, Lyrical has fused a brilliant writing style with an upbeat, electric performance with poignant messages and effortless timing. His comfort on stage has allowed him to take traditional poetic performance and expand it into comedy, commentary and improv for a complete show that promises to be unlike anything you've seen or heard before!
Born and raised in the melting metropolis of New York, Lyrical set off to Baltimore after high school where he found an fell in love with poetry and the spoken word. Lyrical learned the valued lessons of performance in the gritty city, performing everywhere from open mics to graduations, parties and celebrations, and even a funeral or two. Through the diversity of his performances he honed in on not only his writing skill, but his ability to relay his message to any audience, young, old, black, white or blue!
He quickly made a name for himself in the DMV tri-state area, performing alongside his writing partner. The two would go on to write several shows together including a two-man play they financed, produced and performed in 6 major cities. Lyrical then moved out to Los Angeles where he learned even more performance arts business etiquette while continuing to master his craft. He then began traveling the country as a spoken word artist, performing in nearly 30 major cities and at over 50 colleges and universities along the way.
In 2012 Lyrical published his first book, "The Deferred Dream," to rave reviews and appreciation from critics. It was the first in a series of three books the author is slated to write in the coming years, with the next one due out this year.
