Adam Ruben is a comedian, storyteller, writer, and molecular biologist in Washington, DC.  For over a decade, he has performed at clubs, colleges, and private venues across the country, including at some of the best-known storytelling shows and comedy clubs.  He has opened for some of the country's best-known headlining stand-up comics, including Jim Gaffigan, Ben Bailey, Jake Johannsen, Greg Giraldo, Kathleen Madigan, and Larry Miller.

Adam has been seen and heard on the Food Network's "Food Detectives," the Science Channel's "Head Rush," the Travel Channel's "Mysteries at the Kremlin," and NPR's "All Things Considered."  He co-hosts the Science Channel's "Outrageous Acts of Science," currently in its third season, and Discovery International's new show "Superhuman Science."  Adam also produces and hosts a web video series for the Journal of Visualized Experiments called "Ask Adam about Grad School."

For ten years, Adam has taught an undergraduate stand-up comedy class that has quickly become one of the most popular January "Intersession" courses at Johns Hopkins University, and he currently teaches storytelling with SpeakeasyDC.  Adam is the author of "Surviving Your Stupid, Stupid Decision to Go to Grad School" (Random House, 2010), a satirical guide to the low points and, well, lower points of post-baccalaureate education, and he writes the humor column "Experimental Error" in the otherwise respectable journal Science.

His one-man show, Please Don't Beat Me Up: Stories and Artifacts from Adolescence, debuted to rave reviews at the Capital Fringe Festival in July 2011. In addition to his day job developing a malaria vaccine at Sanaria Inc., Adam travels the country, performing his show as part of anti-bullying programs and talking about his book to audiences of disaffected grad students.

Adam performed for our Hybrid /Virtual Christmas party!  He comedy was funny, engaging and spot on for our NASA team!  We enjoyed him immensely, I received numerous kudos for finding him!  We will definitely keep him in mind for future events!

Adam performed to a crowd of about 100 people in our community clubhouse. He was great! We had never done an event like this before and based on the amount of laughter, everyone really seemed to enjoy it! 

We were very pleased with Adam Rubin's performance.  He arrived in ample time.  He seemed comfortable with his audience, and they with him.  The feedback I received was, "How did you find him?  He was very good."  We had a membership meeting the next day and budgets were discussed.  It was unanimous to keep the entertainment portion of our Rally  in our budget.  I will be contacting GigMasters again for the next Rally in a different location.
