Pierce Strings String Quartet from Brooklyn, NY

Hello! We're Pierce Strings. We've been gigging less during the last few covid years but we're ready to get back in the game. Services we can offer: Solo Cello, Cello Violin Duet, String Trio, String Quartet. Musicians we have worked with include the head of Pierce Strings, Lenna Pierce, as well as: First Violinist Chia-Yin Ma has a master's degree in Violin Performance from the Peabody Conservatory . She has been performing with the Peabody Improvisation and Multimedia Ensemble since 2005. Her great love is jazz and new music--she arranged and recorded the strings sections for Kathy Watson's album entitled “Come to Me,” the jazz pianist Joel Holmes' album entitled “African Skies,” and also the saxophonist Russell Kirk for his first debut Album entitled “Black & White”. Second Violinist Margot Bennett, a born and raised Jersey girl, grew up singing classical music with her church choir. While studying violin she acquired a deep love for the chromatic harmonies of composers ranging from Mozart to Rutter, with a particular interest in Requiems. Her work as a singer songwriter has been profoundly influenced by dark poetic singer songwriters such as Leonard Cohen and Laura Nyro. Violist Kate Barmotina has a degree in Music Education from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She is a passionate devotee of new and experimental music as well as a longtime fan of Beethoven. As cellist, I, Lenna Pierce, am a huge fan of weddings! I love being part of peoples' special day and helping them realize their vision of what a beautiful wedding can be! I studied chamber music under the world famous Chiara Quartet, and was runner up in their 2008 "Play with the Chiaras" competition. My second album as a singing cellist was named WFMU's new album of the week in 2015. I've also toured internationally in London, Paris, and Berlin.
