The TROPICS Cover Band from Seattle, WA

Over the last 20 years The TROPICS have appeared at every top venue in the Northwest and are nearing their 500th performance! We were selected as “house band” at Angel of the Winds Casino, and play for more yacht club events than any band in Washington. The TROPICS also perform for Weddings, Concert Series, Festivals, Corporate Events and Private gatherings of all types … large or small. The TROPICS are college educated music professionals and in the early days, were all teachers in the public schools. We (mostly) still are. OUR SOUND and SERVICES Our live instrumentation includes three Lead Vocalists, two Guitarists, Keyboard, Saxophone and Flute. The TROPICS produce music far beyond the ability of larger groups, offering an INCREDIBLE VARIETY of songs from the “last century” to today's hits which include Classic Rock, R&B, Ballroom, Country, Yacht Rock, Light Jazz, Background Music and Edgy-pop! For weddings we provide "MC services" and are happy to perform ceremony music and special dances. Although The TROPICS are busy as a TRIO we now offer an additional service: the TROPICS DUO! It’s the same great music featuring Two vocalists, Guitar, Saxophone and Flute at a lower price and with less emphasis on harder-edged, “guitar solo” oriented songs. The TROPICS feature Shoreline Music Teacher GREG BOEHME (Bay-me) on Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, Keyboard and Vocals. Greg taught Music at Shorecrest High School for 20 years and was judged one of "Seattle's Ten Best Artists" for his local radio hit “Love Be Kind”. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Western Washington University and the University of Washington. In recent years Greg has combined TROPICS Gigs with sailing adventures logging 20,000 "blue-water" miles in the Pacific, the Northwest and Canada. Lead Vocalist ELAINE SKEFFINGTON grew up in Philadelphia and attended the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University. Following graduate school she relocated to the West Coast, making local TV appearances and collaborating with numerous Northwest musicians and groups. In addition to The TROPICS Elaine performs regularly with her acoustic duo which has been entertaining Seattle area crowds at wineries, restaurants, and festivals for over 15 years. Virtuoso Guitarist CHAD QUIST attended the Berklee College of Music and has opened for Ray Charles, Tower Of Power and Diana Ross. He had a long association with "Big Brother and the Holding Company" (of Janis Joplin fame) and Glenn Yarbrough which brought him to Europe, China and Mexico. Chad has toured Africa with Paul Allen's personal band and has produced music airing on Disney and ABC. Chad also performs with Seattle legend "Heart by Heart". WHY BOOK THE TROPICS?
