She grew up in Detroit Michigan during the glorious Motown era. With minimal formal training, she composes all of her music by ear and uses her piano to record in her home studio. Studying spirituality since the age of twelve, her lyrics are rich with wisdom and life experience. After the release of her first CD "A Musical Messenger" she was invited by Dr. Maya Angelou to sing in New York where they met and DeeJazz performed. Afterwards Dr. Angelou said "DeeJazz is unique and impressive." She also was an opening act for the OWN guru, Iyanla Vanzant where she sang her song "Joy Ridin' Journey" from her second CD "Music of Life". Her uplifting performances include her original songs and can include positive message songs by other artists if the clients desires. She can perform from three to ten songs depending on the occasion. There is also an option of DeeJazz being accompanied by two contemporary dancers if the clients chooses. Her performance music is on CD or flash drive so there is no band.
