Geedah Beat Violinist from Philadelphia, PA

Hi, I am Geedah Beat, a Philly native. Violin has been a part of my life for 18 years. I started playing the violin at 8 years old because it peaked my interest. Choosing violin was something I did out of curiosity and it blossomed into something so amazing. I first studied violin at F.S. Edmonds elementary school in the 2nd grade. From then, I continued my studies at Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School from grades 5th to 8th. Finally, I studied violin at Creative and Performing Arts High School, while also minoring in dance from 10th to 12th grades. As a high school student, I began playing on the streets in order to generate income. Over time, I formed a duo with my best friend to perform at events. Over the years, the business has evolved into me becoming a solo musician and navigating its nuances.
