As recently as five years ago people would joke about the "wedding binders" that brides to be (and sometimes brides to be, to be) kept hidden under their beds. The binders were stuffed with magazine clippings and other ideas. The problem was, once you cut something out, you often didn't know where you'd found it. Then, a few years ago brides started collecting their ideas on "Inspiration boards," sort of an electronic version of a clipboard. Today, Pinterest has come along to make it all so much easier.
If you haven't seen Pinterest yet, you may have just met your new best friend! This nifty online bulletin board lets you pull images directly from the web and add them to a "board" of your choosing. You can have one board for dress ideas, one board for wedding entertainment ideas, one for flowers, etc. The best part is, it keeps track of where you found the image for you!
You can also search for images directly from Pinterest. We have boards, as do many other wedding companies. You can comment on other people's pins, and share yours with whomever you like. For example, you and your bridesmaids can work together to create one board of possible dresses. Or you and your groom can work together to come up with ideas for your bridal party gifts. By putting all the ideas in one place, you'll make sure you aren't overspending.
People in the wedding business are already using it like crazy to give you ideas about the kinds of services and items we provide. We can't wait to see how else this new platform takes off.
Pinterest is by invitation only. You can request an invitation directly from the site, but that takes a while. Feel free to leave us a comment below and we'll be happy to send you an invitation!
