Everyone was happy I was able to find Don, he was great to work with, very respectful and very talented.
Being a bagpiper is not just a hobby for me, but a passion that was turned into a full time career. 2019 marks my 49th year playing the great highland bagpipes. I'm honored to say I have enjoyed performing on multiple continents for more than 4,500 private engagements and creating memories that last forever. In fact, my banner photo for GigMasters is from my 2013 trip to Scotland where I played at Urquhart Castle on the banks of the infamous Loch Ness. I play the Great Highland Bagpipes and the Small Scottish Pipes. The Small Scottish Pipes are used for more of a intimate setting where volume may be a concern. My performances have influenced people from around the world. Here's one example after watching one of my YouTube videos:
"I absolutely love the music you played for this bride's processional. I wish I could have you perform at my wedding.Unfortunately, you are in Michigan and my budget doesn't stretch to fly you over to London. You are exactly what I want. You are Amazing."
Carrie- London, England
Anyone trying to master a musical instrument will devote countless hours and years of practice to strive to perform a selection of music that the audience will describe with just two words....Beautiful and Effortless. This is the sound of a true professional. It is not just practice that makes one a piper but it is also one's instructor who can have a hand in molding a world class player. I am truly fortunate to have had the world's very best player's and instructor's from around the globe to train and influence me. This ensures that you will be getting the highest quality performer for your money and one of the very best bagpipers in North America. I have spent the last thirty years competing at the highest level bagpiping has to offer. That level is Professional. When you choose me you will not only be getting a great performer but a World Class Professional Bagpiper.
I know how difficult it is for people to choose a bagpiper. Choosing a bagpiper is something that you don't do everyday. How can you choose wisely? You can look at all the websites and to me it reminds me of résumés. They all sound wonderful, full of accomplishments and glowing reviews. I've even had people tell me “A bagpiper is a bagpiper. One piper is just as good as another piper”. What an untrue statement that is. If you were in need of a surgeon for your loved one, would you just want any surgeon? Surely you would want a good surgeon. How about one of the top surgeons in the country? Lets say the cost is the same. Which one would you choose? Fairly obvious. Choosing a bagpiper is no different. You want the very best for you and your loved ones. You only have one opportunity to do this right. You want the most talented. I believe all bagpipers love what they do and they love sharing their passion. They want to give you their best performance but is their best performance the best performance available? With that said, if you only wanted the best player available, you could just purchase a recording of the best player and use that. But there is truly more to a bagpiper than just being able to play well. It's called personality and being a performer. This is where I excel.
I perform for all different types of events such as surprise birthday parties (one of my favorite things to do), weddings, funerals, anniversaries and at retirement homes just to name a few. I have the personality that allows me to give you an unforgettable performance no matter the event.
Planning a surprise birthday bagpiper is no easy task. The uniform is a dead give away and how about those loud bagpipes? How do you make it a surprise? Ask me. When I'm invited into someones home, I not only want to give the best performance, but I really want to entertain. It doesn't have to be a concert where you just sit and listen. It's a party. Lets have fun!
Funerals are performed with a sense of dignity and respect. This could be a last request from their loved one or a family tradition. I prefer to gather information about the deceased so that I can provide a personalized tribute for this celebration of life. One of the most beautiful things I do is a duet with an organ/piano, which has been described as “breathtaking”.
For festive events I like to add a highland dancer. The dancer brings another dimension to the event. So you have me playing wonderful tunes and taking requests, enter the dancer, and your eyes focus on beautiful, athletic movements with the sound my of the pipes filling your ears.
Weddings are so special, and I have had the privilege to perform for more than eight hundred. I know I'm doing something right when I'm playing for a young couple's wedding and I was the bagpiper at their parent's wedding. Please go to my website and see all my wedding video's.
Choose me and I'll give you a memorable event to cherish for a lifetime.
