I played neither "briefly" nor just "for a few minutes. I played as I always do, for 10-15 minutes before the hearse arrived (usually while attendees arrive; in this case I was the only one there. I was playing as the hearse and limo arrived. I piped the coffin into the church, attended the Mass (the priest even mentioned me multiple times in his sermon). I piped the coffin out and played another lament as the 5 people who came to the service left. I piped as the hearse drove away and out of sight. When I finished the last tune I was again alone on the sidewalk before the church. Exactly what more was I to do?Review by Maya D.

The elemental sound of the pipes is attractive but also makes them temperamental with tuning difficulties not shared by modern instruments. I had to play a tune at the beginning of the service and another at the end. It is VERY hard to start again without re-tuning. It was a tiny church and I could not leave. The pipes were VERY temporarily out of tune for a few notes when I started again. I recovered as quickly as any piper could, and faster than most would have. I've played at hundreds of services and this is a problem I've experienced rarely, but sometimes goes with the territory, as do overly-difficult customers. The other 10 tunes I played went perfectly.Review by Lynn A.
