The Howard/Hughes Project Bluegrass Band from Purcellville, VA

We are a high-energy, versatile, and professional bluegrass band that spans traditional and contemporary bluegrass with hot picking and beautiful harmonies. We can offer a duo, trio, or full band for your event, and provide sound reinforcement as well, if desired. My husband and I are the core of the group and have been performing in various configurations together and apart for a combined total of almost 90 years, all over the US, Canada, Europe, and beyond! Lisa Kay Howard started out singing and playing mandolin in central Virginia in the late '80s with her family band, Crooked Run. Later she founded the DC-based group Badly Bent, and in 2007, she began fronting The Lisa Kay Band. She has also been a bluegrass disc jockey and show emcee since 1993. Lisa Kay also performed most recently with Level Best, East of Monroe, and nationally acclaimed recording artist Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike. Wally Hughes' musical journey began when he was 11, playing Dobro with the Hughes Family band. The decades following took him across the US and Europe, and saw him performing with such greats as Mike Auldridge, Bill Emerson, Mike Munford, and more!
